Funding the Open & Closed Project
The Open & Closed Project is a proposed nonprofit corporation (not a charity). We do not particularly desire government funding of any kind; we’d prefer to be funded by industry.
We need about $400,000 Canadian for Year 1 and $4 million to $6 million over the seven-year life of the Project. These are small values in the grand scheme of things.
Micropatronage
In 2006 and 2007, we ran a micropatronage program to underwrite the cost of fundraising for the whole project.
Applications
Among the bodies to whom we have applied for funding (an incomplete list):
- CTV Globe Media, as part of its takeover of CHUM
- Rogers, as a consequence of its plan to buy some of CHUM’s assets in that same transatcion
