Topic: Universal file format
A universal file format for captioning, subtitling, audio description, and dubbing is a topic of additional interest at the Open & Closed Project. At present, there is no reliable way to exchange files from one system to another (or sometimes within the same system), meaning that the same productions are often, for example, captioned more than once. A solution to the problem has been attempted numerous times without success. The Open & Closed Project intends to build on existing efforts to finally make it possible to exchange text, audio, and other files among and within systems.
